Postdoc position in cellular neurobiology

  • Post-doc / Ingénieur de recherche
  • Lille

A (two-plus-one-year) postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately at INSERM U1167 in Institut Pasteur de Lille (Lille, France) to work in Team 3, headed by Jean-Charles Lambert. The position is fully-funded by the Sanofi iAwards programme and by the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND).

Our multidisciplinary team has recently characterized several genetic risk factors of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and is currently developing cell-based models to understand how these genetic determinants are involved in the AD pathophysiological process (Nat Genet (2013) 45:1452; Acta Neuropathol (2017) 133:955; Nat Genet (2017) 49:1373; Acta Neuropathol (2019) 138:631; Nat Genet (2019) 51:414; Acta Neuropathol (2019) 138:221). The fellow will investigate the role of the innate immune system in the onset and progression of AD. More specifically, s/he will focus on microglia–neuron interactions and the potential roles of AD risk genes mainly expressed in microglia by using a range of techniques, including high-content screening, microfluidic co-culture devices, and human induced neurons.

Qualified candidates with a Ph.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree with a strong background in cell biology/neurobiology are encouraged to apply. A background in the focal adhesion pathway and/or synaptic plasticity is desirable. Experience in primary neuron/glia cultures, iPSCs, microfluidics, or fluorescence (confocal) microscopy will be considered an advantage. An excellent track record of scholarly achievements, as demonstrated by awards and authorships, is expected. Candidates must be highly motivated and able to interact effectively with team members at various levels. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Speaking French is not mandatory.

Lille is a dynamic regional capital, a cultural hub and bustling university city of ~250,000 (> 1 million in the greater metropolitan area) and is well-connected to Paris, Brussels, and London via high-speed train. 5-acres integrated urban campus of Institut Pasteur de Lille is located in central Lille and houses state-of-the-art research facilities.

Interested individuals should send a brief cover letter describing their scientific/academic achievements and key competences for this application, a detailed CV, and names and contact information of two or more academic references to devrim.kilinc@pasteur-lille.fr and jean-charles.lambert@pasteur-lille.fr.
