Microscopie Solidaire
In our laboratories, we all have old microscopes that are no longer in use or unused optical components. In a bid to give new life to this equipment, but also to show solidarity with scientists in less well-endowed countries, the GdR Imabio is launching an appeal to collect your unused equipment! As part of an international collaboration with the University of Burundi, the GDR Imabio has sent five colleagues to support the development of microscopy in Bujumbura. From 12 to 26 May 2025, a team of members of the GdR ImaBio will be organising practical courses, the refurbishment of a fleet of teaching and research microscopes, an 8-day practical training course and two field trips to Burundi’s nature reserves. Through regular posts on the GdR ImaBio website, they propose to share this mission with the members of the GDR.: https://youtu.be/Qj6oSHDkmtQ
In order to support this action and the projects in preparation, we are asking you to collect laboratory or practical equipment in microscopy, physics and biology, as well as technical manuals for old equipment. Please let us know if you have any equipment to give away by sending an e-mail to: microscopie-solidaire@services.cnrs.fr
We will organise the logistical and administrative aspects.
