We are looking for a candidate to work on a partially industry-funded deep-learning project using state-of-the-art biological imaging of pancreatic tumour samples.
The goal of the project is to better understand which tumour characteristics are related to patients’ response to oncolytic virotherapy, which exploits viruses to sensitise cancer cells to immuno-therapy and ultimately kill them.
Opportunities
The project will be carried out at the Cancer Research Center of Toulouse (CRCT) in close collaboration with experts on PDAC molecular biology and clinicians in one of the biggest oncological hospitals in Europe. The CRCT counts with a substantial and growing number of bioinformaticians and projects on AI and deep-learning and state-of-the-art single cell and spatial transcriptomics facilities. Our team is involved in several projects exploiting multi-omics data integration and network approaches to describe and model cellular interactions surrounding cancer cells in the tumour microenvironment. The Cordelier team, our partners in this venture, are experts on innovation in pancreatic cancer therapy, especially on oncolytic viral therapies.
Our team, NetB(IO)2 (English version) includes people with very diverse backgrounds and expertise and our working language is English.
Skills
(required)
Experience in image analysis
Experience in deep learning
Experience in coding with Python/R
Scientific communication in English
Coding best practices (Git versioning, documentation, modular programming etc.)
(preferred)
Experience in Linux environment
Experience in image analysis using ImageJ/Fiji
Experience in huge / multi-channel image handling
Experience in single cell transcriptomics / proteomics analysis
Terms of contract
The contract will depend on the profile of the candidate. In principle the project is funded for 2 years with some flexibility and we are interested in both technicians (IE/IR) and post-docs. The recruitment could be from as early as February 2022. The salary scale is fixed by INSERM and will depend on the candidate’s level of expertise.
Application
Please send a CV, 3 reference letters and a motivation letter describing your interests in this project, and optionally a link to a public code repository (e.g. GitHub) to Vera Pancaldi (vera.pancaldi@inserm.fr). The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
